moki - Solo Show
ABWESENHEIT
moki - paintings
Hiromart Gallery is pleased to present ABWESENHEIT, the gallery’s 3rd solo exhibition of moki, a Berlin based German artist. The show features moki’s new surreal paintings with a theme of ABWESENHEIT, German meaning for absence.
Artist Statement on 不在(FUZAI)/ABWESENHEIT:
where are you?
I can touch your body
sense your warmth
but it feels like an empty shell
a vessel without content
to be in the world
only with your physical presence
your mind meandering
through the shallows of space
safe in an imaginary place beyond reach
no matter if you are a plant
an animal or human being
or something else somewhere in-between
where are you?
this world is slowly falling apart;
the water levels are rising
the ocean is getting sour
increasingly warmer from climate collapse
we stand paralyzed
it’s comfortable to slip over
into the matrix of escapism
However, we need to be present
in this very moment
in new acrylic paintings
for the show FUZAI
at the Hiromart Gallery in Tokyo
moki observes the idea of absence
