Hideki Tarui - paintings

Hiromart Gallery is pleased to present Flapping Colors, an exhibition of paintings by Hideki Tarui, a Tokyo based artist.

Following Tarui’s solo exhibition Charm Point held in 2018, Tarui produced new paintings with a theme of floating-feeling for this second solo-exhibition with Hiromart Galley.

Artist Statement on Flapping Colors:

A painting on a white wall will make an impression as if it is floating in the air - by the thickness of canvas make apart of a painting. With this inspiration, I produced this group of paintings with a subject of floating 2-D painting in a space. As a motif I choose Birds and Butterflies, because its flying foam of spread wings looks like a plane figure is in up in the air. For the work, I expressed spread wings and motions by colors and line drawings in abstract terms. I hope the viewers would feel floating-feeling through the exhibition.
